Meru District Hospital famously known as Tengeru, is located in Tengeru area, on the Arusha Moshi highway Arumeru District, 13 kilometre from the Arusha city, the northern tourist hub and the safari capital of Tanzania.
The hospital is owned by the government of Tanzania under the Meru District Council and serves as a district referral hospital for dispensaries and health centres within the Meru District.
It provides healthcare to outpatients and inpatients, the hospital attends an average of 100 out patients per day, it has a total number of 110 beds
