Karatu Lutheran Hospital is located in Karatu District, 146 km from Arusha, the northern tourist hub and the safari capital of Tanzania.

The Hospital is owned by the Lutheran Church in Tanzania, under the Northern Diocese. it has the status of a Council Designated Hospital (CDH), meaning it serves as a referral hospital within the Karatu district, for dispensaries and health centres.

It is run in collaboration with the government of Tanzania under Karatu District Council.

Electives, internships or volunteering at Karatu Lutheran hospital is available throughout the year for qualified health professionals and healthcare students. 

You will be working with hospital staff and follow them on their daily routines, you will be able to assist during ward rounds, take part and assist in the theatre, follow nurses and doctors in different clinics such as Diabetes clinic, HIV/AIDS clinic, Reproductive and child health,etc. 

Depending on your requirements, you will able to rotate in different departments and clinics, we always make sure you have an experienced supervisor who will guide you.
